Oriental massage

Oriental massage is undoubtedly a wellness massage that relieves muscular tension and promotes drainage of the body.

Oriental massage is a full-fledged type of massage such as Asian massage (shiatsu massage and reflexology), Thai massage, Ayurvedic massage, Kashmiri massage, Balinese massage, Korean relaxation, Californian massage, Swedish massage and seated massage.

It does not refer to a massage set from the Orient as its name suggests.

What is Oriental massage ?

Originating mainly from the Maghreb of the 6th century A. D., oriental massage developed gradually with certain techniques of Asian massages. It takes care of the entire body and acts on the muscles and nerve endings.

Applied movements alternate between pressure sliding, kneading, tapping and brushing.
Oriental massage session sequence

The Oriental massage session, which usually takes an average of one hour, is usually preceded by a steam bath or hammam of about 15 minutes, especially in thalassotherapy centres. This steam bath is designed to relax the patient’s skin and muscles.

Hammam and Thalasso

After the bath, the massage place is filled with incense perfumes and the body of the massaged person is covered with oil also perfumed (eucalyptus, olive or argan). Thus prepared, the patient will receive a series of circular movements such as kneading, kneading and brushing. More intense actions are applied to the belly, thorax and spine.

To give the session a final touch, the masseur gets to grips with a few smoothing movements, offering the patient a cup of mint tea with draining properties.
